I have visited this restaurant since it opened in the early 90's and it has never been disappointing. The staff and I are much older now but it is still a great place to eat.

Booked a birthday reservation for 20 people. Everything was set up & ready when we arrived. Staff was friendly & attentive to everyone in our group. Buffet was delicious & barbeque was even better. Been coming to this Northside location for over 20 years. Never disappointed.

My husband and I came here Saturday specifically for the Mongolian BBQ and we were not disappointed.

I do have to warn you, a lot of people might be turned away at first by the strip mall it is located in. Sadly, this area (Lem Turner & Dunn) has seen better days and it is rather desolate in appearance. Rather run down, with many of those shady faux gambling places and a bunch of gyms and not much else.

First good sign, we got out of the car and the aroma from the restaurant smelled fantastic, making our stomachs growl in anticipation. We were warmly greeted when we walked in and told to sit anywhere. We flagged down the waiter and asked how it worked - we were not given a menu - and he said the Mongolian BBQ lunch was $11.50, all you can eat, and the little hot bar to the side was included.

I was impressed. Three meats are offered (beef, chicken, and pork) and for an additional price you can purchase egg and shrimp. A lot of choices for vegetables, they were abundant and fresh, cut a nice size - not too large, but not too small either.

There is a recipe board above the sauces giving a guide on how to sauce your dish. We followed it verbatim the first time, and then changed it up the second. (I first tried the medium, which was very good, but added the hot & spicy sauce the second time which made it even better.)

Sauce Tip: Yes, it seems like a LOT of liquid that you add to the bowl, but it cooks off, so don't worry.

The gentleman running the grill was efficient and polite. It cooks fast. I dropped my bowl off at a number, got a little plate of food from the hot bar and my BBQ was done by the time I got back.

The hot bar has a small selection of dishes: fried rice, lo mein noodles, two soups, a couple of chicken based dishes, small pieces of fried chicken, egg rolls, cream cheese wontons (savory & really good), donuts, etc. We tried a small sampling, and while none of it would knock your socks off, it was all good food. Dishes were being refilled and changed out frequently while we were there.

Everyone who worked there was friendly and efficient and kept the place clean. The place was not packed but there was a steady stream in and out. Quite a few people got take out.

We really do want to come back here, even though it is way out of our way. The meats were tender and I really loved the variety and freshness of vegetables. (I know a lot of Chinese buffets here in town offer similar grills but not like this, with all the veggies and sauces.)

Do you like Asian food? Do you wish you could make it however you want? Add extra spice? Avoid certain veggies (or meat)? Then you have to try this place. Mongolian barbecue is basically a raw buffet where you pick what you want, pick the sauces you want (there are cheat sheets!), then have it cooked to order. It's a very unassuming place, old everything (decor could use a facelift), but the food is great, portions of other menu items are generous, and the staff are friendly.

  • *****

The buffet food is bland and usually dried out but the build your own Mongolian noodles make it worth the price. If you're like me and can't eat a whole lot in one sitting you can order the noodles by the pound. This is much more cost effective for light eaters and gives you left overs for later. ?

Took my kids here for dinner one night, after having not visited since college, over 20 years ago. When a restaurant lives up to old, good memories THIS well, you know that the restaurant has got to be good! Love customizing the mix of meats, veggies & sauces - love watching it cooked before my eyes - love eating the results!

Only our second time here, and both times were very enjoyable! We were told this location of Marco Polo has been here for 30 years. That says a lot. No complaints whatsoever. Awesome food and staff.

  • *****

Great spot if you want to try something new. food was great!

  • *****

The food here is awesome! The Mongolian grill selection is spot on. The only complaint I have is there isn't any seafood. But other than that it's a great little place to eat. Staff is very nice and our drinks never ran out. Will definitely come here again.

I have been going here since I was a child. Same owners have the place. It holds so many memories and love the food of course!

Friendly atmosphere and tasty food. A hidden gem on the Northside. We're frequent customers and have never been disappointed.

I have been looking for a Mongolian BBQ restaurant in Jacksonville for a long time and was thrilled to find Marco Polo. All of the food was fresh and delicious. The fixing bar had great offerings and all the veggies were fresh. The one thing that keeps me from giving it 5 stars is the place could use a good scrubbing. The floor where they cook looked grubby. Otherwise it was a great experience.

  • *****

The Mongolian barbecue is awesome! The people there are too. Very welcoming and friendly!

  • *****

A classic Jacksonville food hot spot. Been there for years, and so many great memories of amazing food and family atmosphere. Always great service and prices.

  • *****

This is by far my favorite Mongolian BBQ place. My family and I have visited a couple and this is the one that we've liked the most. We come here frequently and the service is always fast and friendly, the food is good quality and the taste is mind-blowing.

Ive eaten alot of Mongolian bbq growing up in the NW and this definitely brought back memories. Was really good and we had a great waiter Charles. I would recommend to anyone. Pork and cabbage was my favorite from the chinese food buffet.... However although the cook isnt the friendliest ....they keep a clean grill. Great date/family spot!!

The foods are wonderful, price is reasonable, special thanks the two waitress that gave me the best service ever. Definitely come back next time.

  • *****

Love this place. The staff is always so nice. The food can a little help but that is why I always get the same thing.

  • *****

Excellent food friendly staff. U never leave unfulfilled. Food served exactly as you like it

Worth the drive from Georgia! Absolutely amazing food! Our little girls love coming to eat here too!

  • *****

The last of it's kind in Northeast Florida. Not only is a Mongolian BBQ, but to also gain access to another bar full of Chinese food if stir fry isn't your thing. The food is amazing, fresh, colorful. The wait staff is kind and curtious.

  • *****

My absolute favorite place to eat! Great food, great service! I l love their Mongolian barbecue buffet, you can customize to any taste. I feel like it’s hard to make the same plate twice, which makes it all the more unique. And their traditional Chinese buffet is always good too. If I could give more than 5 stars I would!

I used to come here years ago, then kind of forgot about it. Then I moved into the area recently and realized how close I am to this place.
I went in on a Thursday after at 3:20pm. There were only 3 tables occupied, 2 with a party of 4 adults and 1 with a couple and their 2 small children, there wasn't a mad rush to the grill.
Those who are not familiar with Mongolian style bar b que, you make your own bowl, season it with their choices of different sauces and a person cooks it for you on this large round metal cooker. They also have buffet of common chinese food, which I tried several of the items.
The Mongolian part has very good choices to create with. Chicken, pork and beef, along with an array of vegetables and noodles. They also have 9 different variety of sauces that you mix and match to create a particular flavor. Your Mongolian bar b que is really only as good as hiw familiar you are with the sauces. Mine comes out always good. Now the pre made hot food was so so. There wasn't anything that stuck out, good or bad. So its status quo when it comes to Chinese buffet. Orange buffet for overall choices, and quality is still my go to chinese buffet.
My bill for the buffet and a coke came to $15.92

  • *****

Some of the better chinese food and probably the best buffet I have been to. The good buffet is probably because there is only 1 small bar with small amounts of food that are changed out regularly. The mongoloan BBQ is great, the people that work there will help you make a basic BBQ sauce to go over the food.

    Mongolian BBQ grill is awesome
    and worth the trip

  • *****

Best Mongolian BBQ i've had in town. Buffet bar has few choices but that's not what you go here for. It's the BBQ. They help you out to fix the BBQ. Most Mongolian BBQ places will add alot of water to your BBQ if you don't have enough sauce it waters out the flavor. Not here they will let you know and help to add more unless specified.

  • *****

So Yummy! It's kinda far from where we live so it's always a special occasion when we make the 45 minute trek but it's always worth it! The service is always amazing and the food always fresh! The best and only mongolian bbq restaurant worth going to in Jax!

  • *****

I've been coming here for almost 20 years. It hasn't changed. That's good and bad I'd say. It's a run down restaurant that you wouldn't go back to if all they had was typical Chinese buffet. But that's not what you go back for. The Mongolian BBQ is the best I've ever had. It was the first I ever tried and since then I've tried it every chance I've got other places and no where comes close. They've got the best selection of sauces and it makes the difference. Not cheap , not pretentious, just great food.

  • *****

The squad usually goes here on out training days. The price is reasonable. The overall cleanliness is acceptable. The waitresses will probably speak very little English are always very very nice. Your glass of water or tea will never be half-empty. But what I do find funny is the obviously very white redneck Callahan boy making the so-called Mongolian barbecue. I think he saw a sign in the window for Barbecue cook, and he said "sign me up". I'm kidding really but he's obviously not Mongolian. Will say the food is very good and they're very courteous friendly and attentive to you as a customer. Definitely be back and of course I always go back.

  • *****

Love the place! Good ole fashioned Mongolian BBQ. I've never eaten from the buffet mainly because I come for the Mongolian BBQ. For the price you can't beat it! Make your own dish, sauce it up, they'll cook it. If it's not good then it's your own fault LOL

It's not all fancy but it fits the area. I've been coming here 17 years. I've NEVER been disappointed.

I've been to other Mongolian places and they have many restrictions. NOT HERE! Put it in a bowl and bam! Do it again and again and again.....

For about $15 you'll be stuffed and happy! And that includes the drink! Also good for vegetarians also! Very simple and most restaurants have forgotten about simplicity in food.

We live in the neighborhood and have often driven by thinking that we'll have to try it one of those days. Well, yesterday was the day. The staff was friendly and helpful so we did the BBQ and Buffet after reviewing the menu and talking with our waitress. The BBQ was very good. In retrospect, we should have skipped the buffet and made a second trip to the BBQ. Good selection of items for the BBQ so no trip has to be a duplicate of the first. The buffet was so-so at best. Only complaints? No fresh coffee (instant available) and did not see any dessert table.

Other thoughts - we arrived about 7:00 PM so the place was empty other than one other table. This allowed us to get our BBQ very fast which was a plus since we had other things to get done before going home. The location can be overlooked easily since it's in the middle of a row of clothing and shoe stores. I will repeat the earlier comment that your water glass never gets below half full.

Don't think we would go every week or even every month but it's a good choice for hot & tasty fast food as an alternative to burger joints and pizza. We'll be back.

Went upon recommendation for the Mongolian BBQ but settled on an appetizer platter for lack of seafood options available to BBQ.

They graciously substituted the beef and pork normally included in the platter with chicken, and each portion (stuffed rangoon, egg rolls, teriyaki chicken, fantail shrimp), tasted great.

Would definitely return again when more proteins are available for the BBQ.

I was introduced to Marco Polo Mongolian BBQ a couple of years ago. The ingredients are always fresh and the grill always hot. I believe this has got to be a hidden gem. I look forward to many, many more visits.

  • *****

I miss this place so much since I've moved out of state.

I would visit this place at least once a month when I lived in Jax. Very rarely ate from the buffet, for me it was all about the Mongolian BBQ. I have not been able to find better. Since moving back to Ohio, the only place around is a chain restaurant, BD's mongolian grill. It makes me miss Marco Polo that much more.

  • *****

Absolutely wonderful experience. My fianc and I both enjoyed our meals. The owner was too funny, can't wait to go back.

  • *****

The best Mongolia BBQ in Jacksonville. It reminds me of the restaurant Ghengis Khan located in Mandarin a long time ago. Looks like the same owner. Overall, the BBQ is great. The Chinese buffet should be avoided.

  • *****

The Mongolian BBQ here is so good!!! This was my first time, but I'm definitely coming back! I got the Medium Mongolian BBQ. The guy that introduced us to the Mongolian BBQ buffet was very nice and super personable, and the servers were polite as well! Good service!

  • *****

We didn't come here for the buffet- just the Mongolian bbq and it was delicious! We've been looking for a Mongolian bbq spot since the one near our house closed a while back and we're so glad that we found this one! Service was outstanding and the entire staff was friendly and very attentive. Wish it wasn't such a far drive but it's definitely worth it. We'll definitely be back!

  • *****

Definitely a drive for us but the mangolian style noodles made to order is well worth it. The buffet items are less appealing but the fried chicken is a must. The price is an all you can eat and only good if you definitely plan on eating several bowls. If not, it might not be the best bang for your buck. Either way, I'll definitely be back.

  • *****

I'm a big fan of Mongolian BBQ and since this is the ONLY place in Jax that offers it, they already get 3 stars just for that. But also it's just really good and everything you expect Mongolian BBQ to be. I love customizing my bowls to be whatever I want them to be and it always tastes a little different based on how you mix your sauces. Love!

Last of the best Mongolian BBQ left in Jacksonville Florida. I live in Fleming Island and drive to Marco Polo for their Mongolian BBQ. Worth the trip....Char

  • *****

Excellent service and food was delicious. Owner was very friendly and informative. Location was a little run down, but overall a good experience. Would definitely visit again.

  • *****

I LOVE this place! By far the best Mongolian open cooktop style in Jax. The food is fresh, meat is kept on ice for safety. :) the wait staff is attentive and kind. They make great food from menu too, in case the open cooktop isn't for you. There is a hot buffet style for meal choice also. We go often, and take friends and family. My only gripe would be outdated small bathroom, but that's not about the food.

  • *****

Love this place! The buffet is slightly lacking but worth overlooking because the Mongolian bbq is so good. Service is friendly and fast.

  • *****

My family has been coming here for years and we love this place! It is the only place to get Mongolian barbecue in Jacksonville. The food is consistently good and the wait staff always remembers us. It's a great place to put the feed bag on!

  • *****

I want to give this place 4.5 stars but don't have that option. Five is too high so it gets a Four. Mongolian BBQ is fresh, They keep the area very clean and the options are always filled and brought out with regularity. You never have to wait for empty containers to be filled with food. The service is excellent and the employees very friendly. I enjoyed the soup from the buffet and for the most part, the buffet is average. I guess you have to go often to figure out what sauces and in what combination work best. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone in the mood for some Mongolian BBQ. It is priced right as well. You certainly get your money's worth when you eat here.

  • *****

I had the sweet and sour chicken, my wife had the BBQ. We both enjoyed the food, very well seasoned and fresh.

Holy crap! How often do you see a Mongolian Grill? Not often, in my life! In fact, this was the first time I have seen one. Just watching your food selections cooked with these giant-looking chopsticks is an experience itself. The grill is right in front of the restaurant's window, so props for clever marketing if the grill placement was the intention. Everyone would be in awe to see that type of grill. When the chef cooks the food, he looks like some warrior with the cooking utensil.

If you're in Jacksonville, crave Asian food, and like buffets, come here to dine and be happy. Maybe I am making more hype about the grill right now, so let me get to the food.

I chose the Mongolian all-you-can eat option. You have a choice of veggies, meat (pork, chicken, beef), and sauces. Yeah, that's right, freedom to choose and fill your dish yourself. The sauce is really delicious, so it's great that you can choose. There is a guide for mild, medium, and spicy about the buffet stand. The buffet stands is small, and there is also other buffet options on the other side. Small buffet stands are okay, because it's a bit simpler and less overwhelming to choose food.

The chef will ask you if you want additional flavorings like garlic sauce. I had 2 full plates of noodles with veggies, chicken, pork, and beef. My stomach could not handle anymore, so I regretfully had to stop. I knew my stomach was indulging in the stir-fry goodness and was signaling me not get up for another round. Yet, my taste buds were wanting more food and throwing a tantrum.

The chef and the servers are friendly. This is a family-owned business, so check out their website.

  • *****

Great place to eat. The chef has a huge round grill in the front, you bring him a bowl of food you have selected from a buffet which offers a mix of meat, vegetables and sauces. Then he cooks it to perfection in front of you. There is also a buffet of hot standard Chinese food. My family really enjoyed this place, the staff ad other patrons are very friendly and helpful

  • *****

This place is great! Exactly what we were looking for in a Mongolian grill! You get both hot food and the Mongolian barbeque included in the buffet price. Definitely well worth the drive and the money!

  • *****

Excellent Chinese type food with a Mongolian flair. At first the buffet seems limited, but every item tastes fresh and well prepared. Recommended.

  • *****

I honestly have only tried their shrimp fried rice.... it's so good that's all I order everything.

  • *****

If you are looking forward to some seafood forget it, both my wife and daughter were not happy and to be honest only 2 bars 1 for the mongolian bbq and one for the buffet so not alot of selections. Food is good though with only 5-6 items to choose from.

You can however order a 10 peice shrimp for 3.50 and the staff was very helpful with the bbq.
The buffet lacking much however the Mongolian bbq was also all you can eat and it was so good even my son ate more than he usually eats at other buffets of his usual diet of breads, fries and pepperoni from the salad bar.

  • *****

This is one of my go-to places, the atmosphere is great, and the staff really treats you like family. The two guys that work the grill are super talented and I love that they have such a variety of toppings for your noodles so you can go for something normal or try something different every time, like me. Highly recommend to anyone looking for great Mongolian/Chinese food in the area.

I have been coming to this restaurant since i was a child, and now in my mid 20s i go as often as i can. I absolutely love Marco Polo and have brought many friends and family members here over the years. If you haven’t been, you need to go and at least try it for yourself.

  • *****

All you can eat super fresh food Mongolian BBQ .
A lot of different sauces change the flavor.
The service is fast and very nice!

  • *****

small but very tasty buffet. great service and great fried rice. the mongolian bbq is delicious and they’ll help you out if it’s your first time.

  • *****

The food here is great. They have 2 food bars. One line is all pre-cooked (general tso chicken, honey chicken, donuts etc). The other is all raw ingredients for the Mongolian grill (beef, pork, chicken, noodles, and a good selection of veggies). Then there are sauces to add flavor. I had fun making small bowls and changing up the flavor for each with different sauces. It's all you can eat, so have fun. The only downside is the cosmetic aspect. It is very old in appearance. It looks like they haven't done anything to it in years. Still, the staff is friendly and the food is yummy.
